As a result, we’ve taken steps to minimize our ecological footprint—and we’re continually finding ways to do more. Every step, no matter how large or small, is a step in the right direction in preserving our environment for generations to come.
In partnership with Mitsubishi Electric and SunGreen systems, Mortech Manufacturing is now proudly the largest solar power system in the city of Azusa. Mayor Joe Rocha joined us to commemorate the official switch to renewable energy as our main power source. Sungreen effectively retrofit our facility into an eco-friendly powerhouse of sustainable and renewable energy with virtually no downtime. The provoltiac system has reduced our reliance on the original power grid by 80% and cut an estimated 390,578 pounds of CO2 emissions per year.

New LED Facility Lighting
The LED fixtures will provide overall energy savings of 50% from the replaced conventional lighting. Mortech has replaced over 900 conventional lamps. Replacing the existing conventional lamps will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 157,000 pounds per year, sulfur dioxide emissions by 524 pounds, nitrogen dioxide by 262 pounds and harmful mercury from florescent lamps by 3754 grams per year. The local impact is equivalent to 25 acres of tree's being planted and 12 automobiles being removed from the streets per year.
Raw Material / Stainless Steel Fabrication
All of our stainless steel fabrications of type 304 and 316 stainless steel come from 80% recycled scrap materials. Stainless steel is 100% recyclable into similar products with no loss of quality. Raw materials are delivered to our facility from local vendors (within a 50 mile radius). All scrap metals (aluminum, copper, brass, and steel byproduct) is accumulated daily and periodically picked-up and recycled.

Oils used at our machining work stations are recycled by our recycling vendor who picks up spent oil periodically.
Mortech has initiated the re-designing of many products for increased energy efficiency. We are moving toward use of LED lighting in most of our products to reduce energy consumption. Water fixtures for our equipment is provided by T&S Brass Works which incorporates a full approach to green manufacturing practices from recycled content (up to 99%), water conservation (low-flow fixtures), lead free components, elimination of ozone depleting chemical processes and high- efficiency work areas. In the office, we use paper products used forms, catalogs and price books are produced from recycled paper products as well. Internal operations request paper computer printouts to be used only when absolutely necessary. Email and data posted to the server is preferred whenever possible. Documents printed in error are collected and re-used for scratch paper throughout our operation.
Cans, bottles and paper from packaged foods consumed by our employees are accumulated at collection points throughout the shop floor, in break areas, and throughout the office. All inbound corrugated packaging is recycled. Corrugation materials for packaging finished products are of 50 – 60% recycled material. Incoming shipping boxes are reused whenever possible.

Low Emitting Material
Adhesives and caulking used in our products are ultralow VOC materials that release virtually no volatile organic compounds after a short (1-2) week curing period. Our products are typically fully cured by the time they are received by our customers. The curing process releases less than 20% of the amount permitted by the most stringent regulations (California).
